Out of Hours Procedures

For urgent medical advice or assistance outside surgery hours i.e. 6.00pm to 8.00am Monday to Friday or over the weekend or public holidays, you should telephone NHS 24 direct on 08454 24 24 24 or visit their website http://www.nhs24.com/. Please note that this out of hours service is for urgent cases only and must only be used if you are unable to wait until the surgery is open. If you have difficulty in contacting NHS 24 then dial the operator on 100.

In an emergency dial 999 for an ambulance.

The following are some examples of serious symptoms which may call for 999 assistance or a visit to the A&E department at Little France

Head injury with bleeding from the eyes, ears or nose, drowsiness or vomiting.
Loss of consciousness
Broken bones or dislocation.
Severe breathlessness or chest pain.
Unresolved choking and difficulty breathing.
Ingestion of a possibly toxic substance.
Severe bleeding.

Patients should call 999/Ambulance if they have someone suffering from the following conditions:

You think that they may have a back or neck injury, or any other injury that could be made worse by movement.
The person is in shock, unconscious or has stopped breathing and needs your constant attention.
The person has severe chest pain or breathlessness.
