Volunteers needed:
Baronscourt Surgery is involved in teaching medical and nursing students which requires willing patients to help.
If you would be interesting in offering some time please click here.
Consultations are by appointment from 8.30am - 6pm daily (only one patient per appointment please). Drs' George, Bronte-Stewart and Ryan are full time and are generally available for consultation Monday to Friday. Dr Thomson is part time and is available for consultation mornings and afternoons on Mondays and Thursdays and, Tuesday and Wednesday mornings. Dr Cremoma is available on Tuesday and Wednesday mornings and Dr Rennie is available on Thursday and Friday mornings. Appointments are also available with our GP Trainee and with our Foundation doctor. Medical Students often sit in with the Doctor. If you would rather see the Doctor alone, please say so.
As from the 4th May, there will be an Open Surgery available to patients, Mon-Fri 8.30am-10am. It is important to bear in mind that it will likely be very busy, so you may have to wait some time. Patients will be seen on a first come, first served basis and consultations are likely to be short. You may be seen by any one of the doctors, or a supervised medical student. If you are unsure if the Open Surgery is suitable for you, please discuss it with the receptionists. They may be able to signpost you to the best person to deal with your problem. Perhaps a Nurse or the Health Care Assistant would be better, and seeing one of them, instead of a doctor, may save you a long wait.
In order to deal with urgent medical problems the receptionist may ask why you need to see the Doctor this is so you are not waiting unnecessarily and can be directed to the appropriate healthcare professional. Depending on demand.
There are some problems which can be dealt with by telephone without actually needing to see a Doctor. Arrangements can be made via the receptionists for a Doctor to phone you at a given time (+/- 30 minutes). The receptionist will ask you for details of the problem to allow the Doctor to prepare and to ensure that it is an appropriate problem to be dealt with by telephone. It may still be necessary to ask you to come in to the surgery, if the problem turns out to be more complicated than first thought. It may also be that another member of the Practice team is better placed than a Doctor to deal with it. Please note there are a limited number of telephone consultations available and only appropriate problems will be dealt with through this system.
The surgery is closed between 12.00pm and 1.30pm on a Wednesday.
Appointments can be made by phoning reception on 0131 657 5444 or in person at reception.
