Open Surgery

Open Surgery is available to all patients,  Monday to Friday between the hours of 8.30am and 10am

If you are thinking of using the open surgery it is important to bear in mind…

  • It is likely to be very busy, so you must be prepared to wait
  • You will be seen on a first come, first serve basis, starting from 8:30am until 10am
  • Consultations are likely to be short
  • You may be seen by any one of the doctors, or a supervised medical student

It may be better to book a routine doctor’s appointment if…

  • You have complex medical problems that are likely to require a long consultation
  • You need to see the doctor for monitoring of a long-term condition or prescription
  • You need to see a specific doctor

If you are unsure if the open surgery is suitable for you, please discuss it with the receptionists. They may be able to signpost you to the best person to deal with your problem. Perhaps a nurse or the health care assistant would be better, and seeing one of them, instead of a doctor, may save you a long wait.
